July 25, 2009 5 CommentsMy first LP concert 21.07.2009
Well I probably should start by saying that this was the best day of my life…I’ve been a fan of Linkin Park for about 4-5 years and I’ve waited for this day so long that when it actually came I couldn’t believe it. From the moment we left Bulgaria to the moment when we were in Greece I couldn’t fully realize what was going on. I never thought I would be so close to the people that totally changed my life. There’s a lot I can say about the music and the lyrics and the way I relate to them but I’ll save it…let’s just say that those 6 guys helped me through so much that I’m not sure if I can ever repay them. So…it was 21st July, we were in Malakasa (about 37 km from Athens) and we were looking for Terra Vibe park. I’m going to skip the explanations and just jump into the moment when we got there for the concert. It was about 15:50.When we got there I thought it’s going to be pretty hard to find Bulgarian people but as I was talking to my dad this guy approached us and asked “Are you Bulgarian” and I was like “Yeaaah” :D So we met those awesome people. Afterwards we had to wait for like 2 hours for the security to let us in. It was hot and peoples were pushing each other but eventually we got in and ran to the stage. So at 19:50 came out Funeral for a Friend. I haven’t listened to any of their songs before but I guess they were pretty cool…but if I have to be honest I didn’t pay much attention cause I was constantly think about LP…We were very close to the stage but the people around us got pretty violent and we decided to move a back towards the centre of the crowd. Btw during Funeral for a Friends’s set Joe came out and took some pictures of the crowd…boy did I get excited! Anyways at 21:30 it happened…first appeared Joe and Rob. The first song was Session and it was enough to get everyone on the arena super pumped. Then suddenly Chester ran on the stage, then the rest of the guys appeared and they started with Given Up…and the craziness begun. At first I thought I was dreaming, I thought I was at home watching this on the computer but after a minute I realized that this is happening now, here in front of my eyes. I was jumping, screaming, singing all at once and I just having the greatest time. Next songs on the set-From the Inside, Somewhere I Belong. It’s such a powerful feeling to see your idols performing those songs, to sing along with them, to really feel how much you relate to these songs…No More Sorrow, Lying From You. When Mike said “Everyone put a hand up like this” the whole arena obeyed…They continued with Points of Authority and I took me a while to realize that I was singing along to Petrified in the intro and A Place for my head in the outro. I pretty much knew about every intro and outro they use because I’ve spend a lot of time watching and reading about their shows. What I’ve Done, Leave out all the rest. Everybody knew the words , everybody was jumping and singing along. Numb…that was a huge moment…this song made everyone connect in a unique way. Breaking The Habit. At the beginning of the song we had to move to side because I was feeling dizzy but we found a spot that had perfect sight of the stage. This song is so powerful and…so real I can’t even explain the effect that in has on me. Shadow Of The Day. I have to admit that I started crying on that one. It was the combination of seeing those amazing people live and the thought that it’s probably going to be a while before I see them again. It was so emotional…I can’t really describe it. Crawling, In the End. There was a lot of singing along on these two…especially on In the End when Mike and Chester held out their microphones and the whole arena sang like one…Mike sang the first verse of Hands Held High over the intro from Reanimation...magical moment.Bleed it out. I loved Rob’s solo and I kept screaming “GO ROB GO!” :D A lot of energy in that song…it really powered me up. The weirdest thing is that I was very dizzy at that time and during the encore I felt very sick but when they came out again I forgot about it…I felt good again when I saw them. New Divide. Awesome energy…I guess some of it came from the fact that it was a new song and it’s been played live like 2 times before this show. Faint…oh boy was that crazy or what? Everyone went insane (including me of course). It’s the strangest and most beautiful thing in the world when 6 guys can make about 20000-30000 people insane :D Loved the outro…rocked hard on that one:D One step closer…what can I say? This is like…wow. I got caught up in so many emotions at the same time. When the “Shut up” part came I screamed at the top of my lungs and it felt AWESOME. At the end of the show Chester wiped his, Mike’s and Joe’s sweat with a towel and threw it in the crowd and then wiped Rob and Phi and threw it again :D Brad came on put side of the stage and we applauded like crazy. And in the end Chester gave the whole arena a big kiss for goodbye It’s very hard for me to describe this…it hard for me to believe that I was there. When I’m looking at the pictures and videos I’m like “Was I really there? “ .But I can always go back in my memories and see those guys rocking out on the stage, performing the songs that changed my life. I guess I can finish this review with “In the memory you’ll find me/eyes burning up/the darkness holding me tightly/until the sun rises up”.
